Welcome to today's episode where we dive deep into the legalities of hosting retreats with expert Cory Sterling, a business lawyer who specializes in helping retreat leaders stay legal (and makes it fun!).

In this show, Cory outlines the primary legal considerations every retreat leader should address before planning their retreat, including business structure, local regulations, and specific laws affecting retreat activities.  Cory provides strategies to mitigate these risks, emphasizing the importance of risk assessment and management.  Cory also stresses the importance of clarity and comprehensiveness in agreements to prevent future disputes.  In this show, we also discuss various types of insurance policies that retreat leaders might need, including general liability, professional liability, and travel insurance.

One surprising thing we discussed is the significance of protecting program content, branding, and other intellectual properties and Cory shares best practices for securing intellectual property rights and the potential consequences of neglecting this aspect.

Take a listen to this packed show and connect with Cory Sterling to ensure you are set up correctly and protected in your business.

Welcome to this episode of the Happy Hour podcast! In this episode, I was interviewed by Nick Purslow from Glampitect, about my retreat ranch in Marble Falls, Texas, which offers a unique blend of glamping and transformative retreats. There are up to 30 glamping units on my ranch, ranging from old trailers to yurts. Rates change with the seasons because the property caters to group bookings and has many amenities, such as dipping pools, a wood-burning sauna, and horse activities. Women's wellness, yoga, wine experiences, and more are all part of retreats. Although the ranch is a great place to relax and enjoy nature, hosting weddings and other special events can be hard. And I myself have learned a lot from these experiences.

Jessica Cross is a certified sound practitioner and creator of Sound for Stress, a heart-centered business that helps stressed souls come home to themselves through the power of sound, yoga, and meditation. Julie owns and helped start Soul Strong Yoga. Soul Strong is one of the few locally owned fitness centers that stayed in business during the pandemic. This is because they have a lot of clients and can make virtual content quickly. We learn how sound therapy works on a deep level, influencing our brainwaves, nervous system, and energy centers, and how it can be used to address a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual issues, including stress, anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, and more.
